As the semiconductor industry turned to the hot field of wireless communications from the PC and portable digital products field, smaller has replaced the lead-type SMD crystal oscillator to become the market mainstream, coupled with the economic crisis in 2008, inventories tight transition time in the supply of tension.
It is optimistic about the market, China’s major supplier of Crystal SMD crystal recent years have expanded product lines. The focus of the market aimed at high-end mobile phones and digital products, which have long been monopolized by foreign providers Crystal hot market.
SMD crystal key application markets include wireless communications, portable digital field and the field of automotive electronics, including mobile phones and digital products with the greatest amount. But these markets are booming global market is the supply of SMD crystal unusually fierce. Chinese mobile phone manufacturers in order to reduce the cost of manufacturing and procurement by the OEM board changes to the procurement of components, which will undoubtedly promote the localization of SMD crystal procurement.
It is based on this bright market prospects, the local supplier of SMD crystal such a large scale upgrading of capacity is likely to lead to oversupply, which led to a decline in product prices. While domestic manufacturers have successively volume production, but compared with SMD crystal demand, local supply is still relatively small. And there are still manufactured SMD crystal investment and technological threshold, the short-term supply and demand does not change drastically.
SMD crystal high production costs, so that it does not have the conditions for the substantial decrease in the price, SMD crystal major cost comes from raw materials, IC and equipment depreciation costs, while the main raw materials, IC and equipment are still a few Japanese companies monopoly, the cost is difficult, therefore significantly reduced.

The decision to close the retail chain came on the heels of Sigma Telecom losing one of its biggest customers, Meteor. Eircom, Meteor’s parent, appointed Sigma rival RCI Radius as the new distributor for Meteor. The retail unit had also struggled with inflated rents in high-profile locations, as the ongoing recession in Ireland left majority of operators and retailers struggling with historically lower consumer spending patterns. Nevertheless, the Irish government is pushing ahead with its ambitious plans to boost broadband connectivity; something which is becoming increasingly vital as operator spend is reined in.Under the government’s National Broadband Scheme (NBS), satellite operator Eutelsat has been selected to provide its Tooway satellite broadband service to deliver high-speed broadband connectivity to homes and businesses in rural parts of Ireland.Eutelsat’s regional Tooway distributor, Satellite Broadband Ireland, will deliver the service under a separate contract from Hutchison Whampoa’s 3, the mobile operator that has been selected to run the broadband rollout on behalf of the Irish government. France-based Eutelsat’s satellite service will deliver broadband speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps to an estimated 5% of the 223,000 targeted buildings across rural Ireland, as part of the €223 million (US$330 million) scheme which aims to bring high-speed broadband connectivity to the whole country. It was inevitable that some of Ireland’s NBS would have to be provided by satellite with even 3′s mobile broadband network rollout struggling to cover the most remote islands in the north and west of the country, with geographical challenges meaning the cost of base stations would be too great.<
Bluetooth Wireless In Your Home Office

Bluetooth is a wireless communication protocol that provides a method of wirelessly exchanging data between bluetooth enabled devices. Unlike Wi-Fi which requires more power to operate and a separate configuration for each device, Bluetooth requires low power consumption, is relatively simple to use, and is designed for use in a much smaller area. A network of devices formed around Bluetooth is known as a PAN, or Personal Area Network.
While the technology has been around for over ten years and its use has steadily grown, still relatively few take full advantage of the many capabilities it presents. One excellent use of Bluetooth technology for the consumer is in the home office.
The conversion of a typical home office set up to wireless technology is fairly simple and straightforward. It is not required to have any programming skills or advanced computer skills in order to make it work.
In converting your home office to Bluetooth wireless, the first order of business is acquiring an adapter for your computer. This is a small device which plugs into the USB port of your computer and will allow your computer to communicate with Bluetooth components. Many of these adapters (or dongles) are similar in size to the popular USB flash drives. The adapter becomes the “master” and is capable of communicating with up to seven Bluetooth enabled devices. They are manufactured by many well known companies in the wireless field, such as D-link and Linksys, and are readily available.

Buffalo Midget Wireless N Dongle ? the Small Wonder
Author: admin
The term “dongle” is actually a slang word for an external hardware device with a bit of memory inside of it. It attaches to your personal computer or laptop and dangles off of it. Now A USB Bluetooth Dongle is a quick and inexpensive means to allow Bluetooth Wireless communications onto your personal computer. Mechanism is very simple, you have to just plug in USB Bluetooth Dongle adapter into your computer’s USB (Universal Serial Bus) port and any Bluetooth peripheral device ready to communicate with your PC or Laptop, and this includes computer-to-computer communications, cell phones, printers, and PDAs.
Now I am introducing you here smallest Bluetooth Dongle from Buffalo, the WLI-UC-GN Wi-Fi dongle, the smallest Draft N 2.0 adapter in the world with surprisingly cheap prices. Well the dimension of this dongle is 16 x 33 x 8 mm. These days Wireless N has become a fairly ubiquitous standard it brings wireless n functionality (and b/g for that matter) to its host. It also features with Buffalo’s own AOSS technology which automates the setup of a secure wireless network, as well as the substantial WPS WiFi security standard.
The base operation for bridging connection between peripherals or other PCs, and the automated WPS security system, along with Buffalo’s own AirStation One-Touch Secure System. The main selling point here, obviously, is size—the WLI would make a great company for a notebook that needs to make the Draft N jump which normally covers high range of wireless frequency.
Communications and Information Storage History
Author: admin
Developments related to information technology involved major advances in communication, such as the telegraph – which was really an electronic improvement on ancient methods such as drums and smoke signals, and later semaphore communication.
The first telegraph was actually built in 1809, but the technology matured during the mid-nineteenth century with the development of methods whereby actual images could be transmitted electronically (1843). With the laying of the Transatlantic Cable in 1866, communication that once took weeks or months could be accomplished in minutes.
Further advances included the development of wireless communication in the 1890′s, and the combination of this technology with the typewriter to create the teletype machine in the early 20th century.
Thomas Edison was the first to come up with a way to store sound information with the invention of the phonograph in 1877, but it was really the development of audio magnetic recording tape in 1926 by German inventor Fritz Pfleumer that would become a method of storing information electronically.
Magnetic tape was initially used for recording sound. The technology finally arrived in the U.S. after the Second World War, and early computer engineers soon found uses for it. Magnetic audio tape was used to store data by the UNIVAC I computer of 1951.
What is interesting is how the information was stored – which differs little from the basic way information is stored today. If you were to listen to a magnetic tape on which computer data was stored, you would hear a series of beeps of varying lengths – but consisting of only two pitches. These are basically “ones” and “zeros” – the building blocks of all computer data.
Today, we are able to store, process and transmit more information than ever before in history, using nothing more than two symbols! 1 0
Information Technology Since 1980
The development during the 1970′s of integrated circuits and the microprocessor were the advances that began the real revolution in computing. Before the 1970′s, computers were huge, extremely expensive, and relatively slow.
Integrated circuits and microprocessors made possible the development of smaller, faster machines that were priced within the reach of more people. “Personal computers” had actually been around since the early 1950′s (computing pioneer Edmund Berkeley published plans for a PC which he called “Simon” in Radio Electronics magazine in 1950 and ’51).
However, the Apple II, released in April of 1977 (price: about $1300) was the first modern desktop computer featuring an interactive, graphical interface made widely available and affordable to the general public.1
The other significant development came in the early 1990′s when a system of little-known academic and military networks dating from the late 1960′s and early 1980′s suddenly exploded into popularity. The World Wide Web, or Internet, has changed the way people access information, communicate and even entertainment itself.
Separate devices such as telephones, televisions and cameras are now becoming single devices that encompass all of these functions. Meanwhile, the power and capability of computers continues to go up while the cost of the technology continues to drop. Still, waiting to take advantage of technology will be a mistake.
Wap and the Golden Age of Wireless
Author: admin
A golden age of wireless is coming … really! Despite the proliferation of cell phones and PDAs, very few handheld devices are currently being used to access the Internet and fewer still are used as a conduit to access Information Management Systems.
Today’s wireless landscape is still nascent – standards are far from being established and competing systems are in a battle for mind and market share. And the battlefield is littered with the blooded bodies of yesterday’s heroes.
I have been designing websites since 1996. In the beginning, it was easy. Someone called me with a project, they sent me the content for their website, which I would then upload to Microsoft Frontpage or a text editor, insert some HTML tags for formatting and some graphics to make the site colorful, and the job was finished.
The wireless revolution changed everything. Almost every electronic device now comes equipped with access to the web and email. Palm tops, laptops, cell phones, even computer screens installed in automobiles are now connected to the internet. The web browsers and operating systems installed on these wireless devices are often very different from what is installed on an ordinary desktop PC.
Many elements of the HTML programming language are not compatible with some of these wireless platforms. As a result, web design has completely changed. Cross-platform programming languages and specifications have been created so that websites can be viewed on any PC or wireless gadget.
Now that you have a basic understanding of how and why programming has changed, you are now ready for a brief introduction to the main topic of this article, WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). WAP is an open international standard for applications that use wireless communication. Its principal application is to enable access to the internet from a mobile phone or PDA.
Before we begin to discuss Wireless Application Protocol, you should first know a little bit about a language called XML. It is a language that enables programmers to define data without telling the web browser how to display it, because XML files are simple text files. As a result, XML data can be displayed on any web browser. This is significant, because as we have already established, wireless web browsers have a hard time with HTML. XML solves this dilemma by putting data in a format that be displayed across all platforms.
WAP browsers are browsers that run on wireless devices such as cell phones. The WAP protocol understands WML (Wireless Markup Language), which is written in XML. In addition to XML, WML uses some Javascript, which is referred to as WMLScript. However, the Javascript is not actually coded directly into the WML page; it is referenced by using a script URL, which must be compiled into byte code on a server before the Javascript can run on the wireless browser.
Wireless Markup Language uses tags, just like HTML. However, the tags are case sensitive. The most important tag that is used is the card tag. WAP pages are known as decks, and they consist of a set of cards, which contain code sandwiched between the opening and closing tags of each card. The cards within the document are then linked to each other.
When a wireless web browser prepares to present the contents of a web page to the user, it downloads all of the cards in the deck at the beginning when the page first loads, and then is able to display the web page and everything in it without making any additional visits to the server.
Within the code, there are usually two main types of tasks called go and previous. The go task tag causes a switch to a new card within the deck. The previous task tag causes the action to switch to the card that was accessed previously. The other two types of tasks worth noting are the refresh task, which will refresh any variables that are being used and refresh the screen if the variables appear on the screen, and the noop task, which stops any further operations from being performed.
There are many other nifty tasks and elements that are used in WML such as the timer element. An example of the timer element in action would be to cause a message that is generated by a task in one of the cards to appear on the screen for 3 seconds before disappearing and moving on to the next card in the deck.
If you make a living as a web designer, you need to learn to create pages that are WML enabled for WAP browsers. If you are unable to program a web site so that it can be displayed on a wireless computer, then your clients will be very unhappy. Wireless internet usage is proliferating. Not creating web sites that can be displayed effectively across all platforms is tantamount to career suicide.
If you are not familiar with Wireless Markup Language, I recommend that you enroll in some courses at a local computer programming institute, or purchase some tutorials online. The syntax for the WML language is not too complicated, so if you already have extensive web design experience, learning the language should be relatively easy.

Growth of mobile communications in India
Author: admin
With the world becoming a smaller place and businesses becoming integrated and interconnected, the mobile phones of today have started supporting various e-mailing interfaces to keep the user connected to his business. The e-mailing options have been made completely mobile by also allowing the user to attach files and documents he has worked upon in his Office and business applications, which are also installed onto his mobile. Technologies like GPRS, EDGE, and Bluetooth etc. have made wireless communication all the more easier and comfortable for the user. As if all these were not enough, the zeal to make the device more user-friendly introduced Wi-Fi enabled phones which can connect to the internet over the selected Wi-Fi hot spots. Even in India, Wi-Fi spots are being built in colleges, campuses, coffee shops and business parks. Thus the Wi-Fi enabled phones are the next in target for the users seeking to go with time.
India has the second largest mobile phone customer base in the world after China. Here the numbers of mobile phone users far outnumber fixed line phone users. Mobile communications in India has leapfrogged in the past 5-7 years with many operators vying for space in the market, each devising unique and ingenious ways to woo the consumer. Mobile phones are a rage in India. With free trade treaties with different countries, many smaller brands from obscure markets now fight for consumer space against the usual suspects like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Samsung. This fierce competition has brought down the prices of mobile phones drastically in the Indian market and thus making everyone mobile literate.
With the emergence of free SMS concept, the usage of mobile phones has taken a new meaning. Now more and more people are logging into web sites that offers free SMS services and optimizing their mobile spending strategies. These web sites provide the best SMS services to consumers, who are looking for a one stop shop for their communication needs. These SMS services can be used anywhere in the world and is also a wonderful worldwide SMS service integrated in a user friendly interface.
Entertainment too has been made wireless. Media communication is an ever growing sector. This growing media needs users to connect with them in the easiest possible manner for they are dependent on the users and vice-versa. Thus we have phones in India which have dedicated applications of downloading and listening to online music. Even gamers can now connect to a gaming portal and play with different users through their mobiles. Live TV has been introduced into the phones, to bring the latest news, happenings and your favorite programs right into a customer’s hands, at the click of a button and all this being on the go.

Improving the Reliability of Underwater Communication
Author: admin
Telemetry or wireless communication is the obvious choice, but radio does not work under water. As alternative, acoustic signals are prone to disruptions and sometimes complete failure. This highlights some of the major challenges with submarine information and communications technology (ICT).
Under good conditions currently available subsea modems can perform their role satisfactorily. However, when the hydro-acoustic conditions get worse due to interfering noise, varying multi-path propagations and other factors, communications may and often do fail. Even in calm seas, the stratification of the water body can cause severe signal reverberations and dynamic fluctuation of the channel properties, resulting in poor transmissions. Thus, a real innovation was needed to provide reliable wireless communication under varying conditions.
New approaches employ a continuous change of frequencies that not only serves to transmit information, but also to compensate for sources of interference, such as echoes and noise. Acoustic underwater modems that “sing” like whales and dolphins in the ultrasonic range are able to reliably transmit digital data over distances up to several kilometers with no data loss or harm to the environment.
This way, the signal energy is continuously spread over a wide range of frequencies and the signal structure is adapted so that the multi-path components do not interfere with each other. At the receiver side, advanced signal processing collects the energy and converts the received signals into narrow-band signals.
Sweep Spread Carrier (S2C) is a technology that continuously spreads the signal energy over a wide range of frequencies and adapts the signal structure so that the multipath components do not interfere with each other. At the receiver side, advanced signal processing collects the energy and converts the received signals into narrow-band signals. Taking advantage of the ultra-wideband sweep technology the subsea modems continuously determine the signal propagation time and Doppler shift with a high accuracy, which at the same time intrinsically provide the precise distance and relative velocity between modem pairs. Long and short-baseline positioning or tracking mobile systems (AUVs, remotely operated vehicles [ROVs], robots) are simplified.
Complex communication, navigation and monitoring networks can be established. Each modem is able to be individually addressed, and at each connection to another address it calculates the distance and relative velocity and evaluates the acoustic properties of that channel. Sharing these data with other nodes enables optimal traffic planning and routing in the network.
New technologies are transforming patient monitoring and Kalorama Information has reported on these developments last year. This report, High-Tech Patient Monitoring market updates revenues and segment breakdowns to reflect changes in the market, particularly the remote monitoring and the enhanced role of applications to transfer patient data to EMR systems.
Advances in remote patient monitoring include new peripherals, real-time audio and video for “face-to-face” interaction between clinicians and patients, wireless communication, systems that “sort” the vast amount of data collected in order to put it into the context of a patient’s condition, portable and ambulatory monitors, web-based access to the patient record, systems that transfer data to an electronic medical record (EMR), and full-service outsourcing that includes a clinician to evaluate data and send a report to the attending physician.
Novel technologies in patient monitoring are emerging to meet the increasing demands of an aging population, decreasing healthcare resources, and an emphasis on reducing hospital days. Nearly all focus on some form of ambulatory monitoring using wired or wireless technologies.
This Kalorama Information report High-Tech Patient Monitoring Systems covers three product areas:
Wireless and Remote Patient Monitors,
Patient Data Processing Applications and Equipment,
EMR Data Transfer Equipment and Applications
Patient data processing applications and equipment use algorithms to evaluate monitoring measurements for a patient’s specific condition(s). Usually, these can be customized by the physician, with reports sent to the physician; these can be integrated parts of a PM system or add-ons. EMR data transfer equipment and applications for this report are either components of, or add-ons to, patient monitoring systems. This does not include EMR applications, simply the applications in this segment transfer data to third-party EMRs. There are four primary markets for these new technologies, which are as follows:
Hospitals;
Home healthcare;
Nursing homes; and
Other, including first responders, institutional, physician offices, and military.
All market numbers in this report pertain to the U.S. market at the retail level. In most cases, retail level is the same as wholesale level because end users are purchasing directly from the vendor. The base year is 2008, with forecasts provided for each year through 2013.
The market was evaluated via a combination of disease prevalence trends, population trends, device innovations, federal and industry standards and regulations. As with all Kalorama Information reports, interviews were the key source of market information presented. Both primary and secondary sources were consulted in developing market estimates.

Open up New ways to minimize the distances between wireless networks
WiMAX is the abbreviation of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access. This new wireless technology is based on standards of IEEE 802.16, so to bring a greater broadband speed and to give a chance of cheap communication over the wireless network. WiMAX has given a great boost to technology; being a provider of true speed for communication.
WiMAX consists of two major applications one is called Fixed WiMAX and other is called Mobile WiMAX. The purpose of first type is to enhance the communication speed of the home users and business officials, where a communication of point to multiple nodes is done. Other type of WiMAX is concerned with the cellular phones and their full mobile utility. Both of these technologies are designed keeping in mind users friendliness, high speed, low cost and large turnover.
OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) is embedded in Mobile WiMAX. OFDMA adds some useful features to this modern application, which include high throughput, support to advanced antennas and great performance. Such features are not seen in the existing wireless communication technology implemented over wide area networks.
This technology is designed to facilitate laptop users to connect with World Wide Web, without having a physical connection. WiMAX is launched to convince the users of cable and DSL to go for WiMAX, which is a best alternate. This latest technology is fulfilling all the requirements of what is needed by a wireless network.
Some of the enhanced features of WiMAX are listed below
It offers best ever high telecommunication services.
It helps in making connection between Wi-Fi hotspots
It offers traveling connections; to be used even if you are traveling in a plane.
A best substitute of cable and DSL in terms of speed and throughput.
